Andrea places in Pulse Model Search

Andrea Antrobus, the First Runner Up in the 2004 Miss SVG pageant continues to shine. Her latest outing saw her placing fourth in the Pulse Caribbean International Model Search, an annual event, which saw 260 models from around the region and internationally meeting in Jamaica. This show, a huge event in that country, attracts the best faces and bodies all hoping to get contracts with the elite Pulse Modelling Agency. {{more}}

Antrobus describes the experience to Searchlight as good and said she was excited to meet the other contestants from the other countries. She said they were given designer clothes to wear in the preliminaries and was then elevated to the top 15. From there the group was whittled down to the top five wearing an evening gown and a swimsuit at the prestigious event held at the Hilton Ballroom where she was the only Vincentian model.

Pearl Williams’ Beautex International was the agency that sent Antrobus to the Pulse Caribbean International Model Search. It hopes to send more young ladies to the event in the future.

Williams feels that after young ladies enter the Miss SVG pageant they should not stop there but should go further. She said that Vincentian ladies have the potential but they often feel demotivated by local attitudes. She said local girls have a lot of dignity compared to the girls overseas but they need to get themselves together and forget about the local talk.

She also called on the government to join with any agency to promote these types of endeavours since they would be getting mileage that is irreplaceable.

Beautex Modelling agency contacted a few girls, trained them and sent the correspondence to the agency in Jamaica, which responded and selected Andrea to be one of the 248 models to enter the show.

Beautex will also be bringing Trinidadian Jackie How, who has trained ladies for the Miss T&T and Miss World shows to train local girls in January. Williams said more young ladies need to be professionally prepared to enter pageants and need good etiquette tips.

The judges commended Antrobus for her elegance and professionalism and commended St.Vincent and the Grenadines.

Anellla Bascombe represented this country last year and was in the top 15.
