Splectron brings first female Soca Monarch competition

Vincentians will, for the first time, get a taste of an all female cast as Splectron Promotions hosts the first ever Ladies Soca Monarch title at Carnival city Victoria Park this Sunday.{{more}}

Lined up for the event will be singing diva, Pat Ralph, former junior soca monarch Cornesha Crooke, Lady D, Sexy Sugars, 2004 junior soca monarch Diamond, Chaka, Myn-c, Ranking Bash, 2005 New Song Soca winner Aretha Shallow, and former Signal band member Ziola.

According to event promoter Regis Splectron, the concept was born since women have always been sidelined in the soca arena. “This event is all part of Hairoun’s 20th anniversary celebration, we are doing this one for the ladies who have always been outshined by men,” Splectron said

“This is an avenue for more women to step out in the Soca arena.”

The event will also feature attractions targeting women. According to the promoter, there will be a ladies’ Hairoun beer drinking competition and a biggest female posse competition, among other events.

Guest artistes, Karen Veira, Skarpyon, Icon, Skinny Fabulous, DJ 20, three-time Soca monarch winner Fireman Hooper and five-time road march monarch Poorsah will keep the crowd entertained. There will be free costumes as gate prizes.
