Movie Star falls in love with SVG

by Sheron Garraway

Actor Lee Arenberg, better known as the Disney pirate “Pintel” or “Ello Poppet”, has confessed that he has fallen in love with this country.

In an exclusive interview with Searchlight on Young Island where the actor was staying, Arenberg characterized Vincentians as some of the friendliest and most hospitable people he has ever met. {{more}}

Arenberg, better known for his role as one of the two pirates seen dressed as a “woman in a frock” in a particular scene, said he has been out and about the country, especially to places like Mesopotamia, where he enjoyed “some of the most finger licking barbecue.

He said St.Vincent and the Grenadines is definitely a place he would choose to spend his vacation and intimated he is planning to return for Vincy Carnival.

Arenberg said that unlike most actors, he does not like to just stay locked up in his hotel room. He likes to venture out and savour the culture of the places he visits and was very impressed with Vincentian life.

He has never regretted being able to see the “splendid beauty” of St.Vincent and the Grenadines while filming part two of the Disney movie. He however made the suggestion that government designate some of the sites where the movie was filmed as special attractions.

“People would travel the world just to get a glimpse of the places where “Pirates of the Caribbean” was filmed. There are areas like the place where the skeletal pirates were hung and a cave on the Leeward coast which are remarkable, Vincentians should capitalise on that venture.”

Arenberg also rated St.Vincent and the Grenadines highly as a destination for making films and promised to spread the good name of the country and it’s people.
