Bunji Garling: The crowd’s darling
He could perhaps be likened unto the Julius Caesar reference, with some alterations. Only this time Antonio Alvarez from the area of Arima in East Trinidad came to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, sang, and conquered.
Known in the entertainment circles as Bunji Garlin had the audience at cruise Ship berth in capital City Kingstown at his every command. An energetic performer, Bunji Garlin, dubbed the King of Ragga Soca, unleashed a burst of explosion and had the fans responding to his every call.{{more}}
Even without a regular backstopping band, Bunji Garlin, with his trade mark fusion of different music, displayed acts of harmony, which struck a chord with the entire entourage.
The gathering was part of the Sun Dance Fest, put on to mark the start of Caribbean Starâs non stop flights to and from Puerto Rico to E. T. Joshua Airport just outside Kingstown St. Vincent.
A number of dignitaries, including press personnel made the inaugural flight and were part of the celebratory affair at Cruise Ship Berth. Bunji Garlin certainly did not disappoint, and Vincentian music lovers and all those who witnessed his display will never forget March 21.
