International model Colin Ash will, on September 25, attempt to pull off what could possibly be one of the biggest and most recognised fashion events ever held here.
The “Fire and Ash – Models with a Mission” show is slated for September 25 at Buccama on the Bay at Buccament and will feature international models from Hugo Boss, Wilhelmina and the Neo Modelling Agency. {{more}}
Last Monday at a press conference at Marion House, local spokesperson for Fire and Ash, La Fayette Johnson James, said that “Fire and Ash” has today been upgraded from a show that raised money to help cancer patients. According to James, funds from the show will now go to the youth and the environment. This show is also being used to promote local products – patrons who pay EC$70 a head to get into the show will be given a complimentary drink of De Anjay Wine and a slice of Caribbean Festival Black Cake.
James said when the show was first held in Barbados in 2000, it made over BDS$73,000 while the second show, which was held at Barbados’ Sandy Lane Hotel, raised about BDS$94,000.
The show is expected to be graced with the presence of international media including Fashion and Music TV which will have their premiere airing in February 2005 in England.
“This show will give St. Vincent and the Grenadines international exposure,” James stated.
Promoter Colin Ash said the show is more than a fashion show. He said it will help promote St. Vincent and the Grenadines. One of the designs will feature white and black sand on the EC$8000 runway, which, according to Ash, is related to the different beaches on the islands. Ash said that the international models will include models who have done work for huge brand names. He also spoke about a model search for eight local models. The second in this series of model searches will continue tomorrow Saturday at Marion House.
Local model Ellon Douglas, who did her stuff at Fire & Ash 2002 in Barbados, said that her experience at the show was great. She hopes that everyone can come out and support the show, as it is not easy to raise funds for things that are important.
Also present at the press conference were sponsors Daniel Cummings of Vincy Nature Products and Michael Davy of Davy Agro Industries Limited.
