Had Alejandra John, the Grenada entrant to last July’s Miss Carival competition in St. Vincent and the Grenadines won, the Ministry of Tourism and Culture would have had the most embarassing job of relieving her of the prestigious Miss Carival 2004 title. {{more}}
The Miss Carival 2004 title was however taken by Asha Pieters of Guyana.
Less than a month after joining a bevy of beauties here in St.Vincent and the Grenadines to vie for the coveted title, John appeared very pregnant as she crowned the 2004 Miss Grenada last week August 5.
Last Thursday night, several patrons attending the Grenada National Carnival Queen show at the National Stadium were utterly shocked when John appeared on stage heavily set to make her final walk across the stage and crown Nicole Seales the 2004 National Carnival Queen.
Patrons immediately started questioning the decision by organisers to allow John to keep her title and pass the crown on to her successor.
Faced with a tough situation the Ministry of Culture compromised by allowing John to keep the National Carnival Queen Title and to crown Seales, since it was felt that her reign was about to expire and she did not have any more billings in or outside of Grenada.
Meanwhile Seales defeated six beautiful young women to claim the 2004 National Carnival Queen title. Shireene McMillan had to settle for 1st Runner Up while Racquel Francis held on to the 2nd Runner Up position. The other contestants were Donic McEwen, Sherry Ellis, Thera Alexander and Sherry Belmar.
