South Windward Carnival this weekend

The spotlights will be turned on brighter than usual at the Biabou Hard Court this evening when the South Windward Carnival Committee plays host to the South Windward Queen Show and Calypso finals. {{more}}
Six young ladies will be vying for the Miss South Windward crown. The crowd will see home girl Asata Glasgow Miss Biabou, Miss Bridgetown Dehmarie Lynch, Kevorn Thomas will represent Miss Peruvian Vale, Onika London Miss Stubbs, Shanika Shallow Miss Carapan and Sharon Ashton Miss New Prospect.
In the calypso finals reigning monarch, Thabit will have to come good to defend his crown against, Nancy, Flex Stone, Struggler, Bawfa, Palestinian and Short Man.
The crowd will be treated to guest appearances from local artiste Monkey Sex and Sexy Susie out of Trinidad and Tobago.
The night’s event will swing full into the morning with Jouvert action through the streets of Biabou. The South Windward Carnival activities wind down with a street jump-up at 3 p.m.
The Carnival Committee’s secretary, Cordell Johnson is assuring patriots that the weekend’s activities will be spectacular.
A cultural package is on the agenda for tonight’s show, with dance group ‘Hot Steppers’ carded to perform.
The Committee will also honour Robert Fitzpatrick for his literary contribution, and Erdrin Keir for his contribution to the development of sports and culture in the Biabou community.
