Seneca is Rose bank queen

The village of Rose Bank is bubbling with excitement following double-crowned success in the North Leeward Carnival celebrations.
Senica Harry, representing that cultural, agricultural and fishing community, beat Petit Bordel’s Monica DeGrads into second place and Fitz Hughes’ Tilesha Small who placed third. {{more}}The other delegates in the pageant were Nasheca James, Chateaubelair; Jihan Lampkin, Rose Hall; Candace Williams, Coulls Hill; and Milika Seaton, Spring Village.
Seneca, with a blend of poetry and dance to the song “A Mother’s Cry”, won the Talent category as well as the Swimwear.
Seneca paid tribute to her chaperone Juanita Phillips, Diana Caesar, her parents, the Rose Bank community and supporters nationwide.
And Vernette “Little V” Edwards, a chip of the old block so to speak, copped the North Leeward calypso monarch. She did the renditions “Land of the Blessed”, and “Survival”, written by her and arranged by the band Classic Groovers.
Little V is daughter of Veda Edwards, a stalwart in the calypso arena. Sister V has been one of the pillars of the North Leeward artform, known for her song “The Road is Breaking Down”.
Sister V had some input to her daughter’s production and the family connection must have served in good stead for Little V’s success.
She beat Nolene “Singing Nolly” Matthews into second and experienced calypsonian Oswald “Azzie Bam” Harry who placed third. The other finalists were Ochilla, Jake I, Abujah and Lady Lino, and Spragga.
