This year, SVG Players International is hoping to go one step further and cop the 2004 Band of the Year title with their presentation Viva Las Vegas. This band will portray 12 sections: Folies, Fantasia, Roulette, Neon, Sunset Strip, Black Jack, Show Girls, Jubilee, Cabaret, and for Children: Cards, Chips and Dice.
Cultural proponent Julian ‘Piling’ Pollard, who did designs is expected to return from a sojourn in Anguilla where he is assisting that country’s cultural department with training in artistic portraits.
Meanwhile Jacintha Ballantyne, speaking on the band’s behalf, expressed satisfaction with the preparation for this year’s depiction. She is looking forward to 500 revelers in the band on Carnival Tuesday.
Ballantyne noted that the workload for this year’s production will have to be distributed and pointed out: “Everybody would have to come together and pull his or her weight.”
The SVG Players Mas Camp is located behind the National Youth Council’s Office in Kingstown.
