Have a cool drink!

With the heat that we have to deal with these days, let’s put the cooking down, put our feet up and have a drink. Here are some easy to make drinks to try.

Mellon Ball Punch

You will need:

25.4 oz sparkling white grape juice.

2 cups clear lemon lime flavored soda (sprite or bitter lemon)

1 cup lemonade

1 small ripe watermelon

1 small ripe cantaloupe{{more}}

1 small ripe honeydew melon

fresh mint leaves

2 limes, sliced, plus more for garnish if desired

Method

In a pitcher, stir together grape juice, soda and lemonade. Place in the fridge to chill. Use a melon baller or small curved spoon to scoop out the flesh of the watermelon, cantaloupe, and honeydew melon. Place melon balls on a cookie sheet lined with foil. Freeze. Once frozen add a few cups of melons balls to pitcher, along with fresh mint leaves and slices of lime. Stir.

Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavours to blend. Serve cold, using additional frozen melon balls as ice cubes. Garnish glasses with lime slices and mint leaves.

Feel free to spruce it up with some alcohol, if you wish.

Homemade Frappuccino

You will need:

Ice

1/2 package of Jell-O Instant Pudding, any flavour

1/2 cup strong brewed coffee

Milk (any kind — almond, soy, whole, non-fat)

Method

Fill blender with ice and add half a package (approximately 2 1/2 tablespoons) of your chosen pudding. Add coffee and top with milk. Blend to desired consistency (until you don’t hear the ice crushing anymore). If it looks too thick, add a little bit more milk. Blend for five seconds more. Top with whipped cream, if desired, and enjoy!
