My co-worker keeps eating my lunch from the refrigerator at work

Hey Rosie,

My co-worker keeps eating my lunch from the refrigerator at work. It may seem funny, but it is not, especially when you are on a budget and someone goes in and takes your food. I find this to be so disgusting and I know who is the culprit. I’ve complained and our boss has sent out a general email asking the guilty party to stop it. I would love to leave them a nasty surprise, but I know it will not be the right thing to do. Help me, Rosie!

I can imagine that this would make you very angry, hungry and slightly salty at the person(s) who you may suspect to be the guilty party/parties.

However, you are correct, you can’t take matters into your own hands. It is wrong and it can also get you into loads of trouble as well, so let’s not go there, please.

Go to your boss again. If that doesn’t work, you may have to walk with an insulated lunch bag and keep it at your desk. Look, is this right? No it’s not. But in this life we sometimes have to find a way to save our sanity.  

I know this may not be a popular answer, but at least you would be able to prevent someone who may have unsanitary habits going through your food. I hope your boss can make some policy changes - if not, keep your lunch bag at your desk. Good luck!
