I’m a 17-year-old girl in love with a married man, who has two kids

Hey Rosie,

I’m a 17-year-old girl with a lot of problems in my life. I am currently in love with this guy. He is married, but doesn’t live with his wife; he has two kids. Rosie, he is a player, but I love him a lot. A lot of people warn me about him, but no matter what, I just keep taking him back. My entire life is just in a mess and I feel like no one is there for me. I even tried killing myself. I need help.{{more}}

Seriously Confused

Dear Seriously Confused,

My girl, I understand that you are going through a lot of conflicting emotions, but I am here to tell you that you CAN turn this around and walk away from this situation.

Until YOU are ready to make these changes, nothing is going to happen for you. I am going to appeal to you right now that this life at 17 is NOT for you. No ma’am, it is not. The reason it may seem that no one is there for you at the moment is that your loved ones are telling you that being with this married man isn’t the right thing. That it is a hopeless situation, but because you keep going back, it becomes hard for them to see you repeating this process as if you are determined to hurt yourself.

Now let’s talk; you deserve much, much better than this. You are only 17, with so much living to do, things to learn and people to meet. Why would you waste your valuable time and energy on a man who is cheating on his wife and moreover playing around with a young woman who hasn’t lived her life yet? It’s just plain selfish on his part and he doesn’t have your best interest at heart at all. You, my dear, need intense therapy. You need to speak to someone professionally and lay out your innermost fears and, most importantly, listen to what they have to tell you. No one is trying to hurt you; it’s only good guidance.

Lastly, never give in to thoughts of killing yourself! Never, never, never! Do you know that you are here for a much bigger reason and purpose than you can even wrap your mind around at this moment? Sometimes, these struggles are for a reason and they really make us stronger. So, keep the faith, look into getting counselling and, most of all, please leave that married man alone; you are MUCH better than this.
