NIS Sickness Benefits

Sickness may cause you to slow down, but with the NIS you won’t have to stop. Our Sickness Benefit provides you with financial support if you lose income while you are ill and away from work.

You can receive financial support for up to 26 weeks while you get well. NIS gives you one less thing to worry about so you can concentrate on getting better.

Who Qualifies

• A person between the ages of 16 and 60, who

• Has paid at least 26 weekly contributions; and at least 8 contributions in the 13 weeks before the illness

A claim for Sickness Benefit should be submitted by the employee within 15 days of visiting his or her doctor.
