Mr. P brings fresh cut to hair business

Describing the opening of his Hair and Face Unisex Salon on Thursday June 1 as a dream come true, Delon “Mr. P” Gibson announced that he has plans to expand to the wider Caribbean.

The licensed barber and facial specialist who has been practicing his trade for some 18 years whilst becoming professionally certified, admitted that he faced many obstacles such as finding a suitable location, but thanked his customers for always being loyal.{{more}}

He revealed that by travelling internationally he got the opportunity not only to be trained but to also experience service and professionalism at higher levels, and aspires to bring this standard to the country.

As a Christian, Gibson praised God for helping him to realise his dreams and credits his wife Natalie, for also being a source of strength.

Trained and certified at the American Barbering Institute, Gibson also thanked his staff and the financial institution National Commercial Bank for their support.

Also at the opening of the establishment was Opposition Leader Arnhim Eustace who joked that although he didn’t have a reason to visit his salon, because of he was bald, he was proud to see a young entrepreneur plunge into the business world.

On a serious note however, Eustace pointed out that there were limited jobs in the government service and urged other aspiring young people to take risks in business.

He also advised the staff to be very co-operative and understanding since as a new business, there would be overhead costs to meet until real profits were made and business picks up.

The Opposition Leader also urged other persons in similar professions to emulate Gibson’s standards. The economist cautioned that with the inevitability of Caribbean Single Market and Economy, CSME, Vincentians could no longer just get by with talent, but must be trained and certified.
