Today is Nomination Day in SVG!

Today is Nomination Day in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Persons wishing to contest the November 5, 2020 general elections may obtain nomination papers from the returning officers at specific places in each of this country’s 15 constituencies between the hours of 9 am and 12 noon today.

Each nomination paper must be signed by any six or more electors qualified to vote in the constituency of which the candidate is seeking election and be handed to the returning officer between the said hours.

In order for a candidate’s nomination to be deemed valid, the nomination paper must be accompanied by the candidate’s consent in writing, a deposit of $500 in cash and the required statutory declaration in Form 3 as set out in the appendix of the House of Assembly Election Rules.

Candidates hoping to contest in the North Windward constituency can obtain the nomination paper from returning officer, Colbert Bowens at the Sandy Bay Police Station.

Maria Burke is the returning officer in the North Central Windward constituency and nomination papers can be obtained at the Georgetown Police Station. The returning officer in South Central Windward is Yvette Spencer-McDowall and nomination papers can be obtained at the Learning Resource Centre in San Souci. Leroy Alexander is the returning officer in South Windward and nomination papers can be obtained at the Biabou Police Station.

Nomination papers can be obtained at the Mesopotamia Police Station from returning officer, Eucille Francis in the Marriaqua constituency.

Charles Samuel is the returning officer in the East St George constituency and nomination papers can be obtained at the Calliaqua Town Hall and Yvette Browne is the returning officer in West St George and nomination papers can be obtained at the Belair Government School.

Jacqueline Browne is the returning officer East Kingstown and nomination papers can be obtained at the CW Prescod Primary School.

In Central Kingstown, nomination papers can be obtained at the Court House in Kingstown from returning officer Edlena Adams and in West Kingstown, it can be obtained at the Kingstown (Stoney Ground) Government School from returning officer, James Wilson.

Othneil Browne is the returning officer in South Leeward and nominations papers can be collected at the Questelles Police Station. The returning officer in Central Leeward is Wallace Christopher and candidates can collect nomination papers at the Layou Police Station.

In North Leeward, nomination papers are to be obtained at the Chateaubelair Police Station from returning officer, McCarta Gordon.

Devon Ollivierre is the returning officer for the Northern Grenadines, where nomination papers are to be obtained at the Port Elizabeth Police Station in Bequia and Gailene Noel is the returning officer for the Southern Grenadines, where nomination papers are to be obtained at the Ashton Police Station in Union Island.
