Three cruise ships drop anchor in Port Kingstown

Three cruise ships arrived in Kingstown harbour yesterday, as St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) continues the process of repatriating Vincentian sailors amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

The three ships that docked yesterday were Royal Caribbean: ‘Vision of the Seas’, Disney Dream and Disney Wonder and according to a release from the Health Services Subcommittee dated June 14, over 60 crew members were scheduled to arrive between both cruise lines.

This number is part of the 150 Vincentians being repatriated throughout this week via sea and air. The first batch, 19 students studying in Barbados, arrived on Sunday, June 14 at the Argyle International Airport.

The release said that crew members employed with the Norwegian Cruise Line Company were also scheduled to arrive later this week.

It is expected that nationals will be processed on arrival according to the established risk based repatriation protocols, aimed at minimizing any new introduction of COVID-19 in SVG.

To date, this country has recorded a total of 27 cases, two of which are still active.
