Six young ladies to vie for Miss Independence 2019 crown

This Sunday, Independence Day, six young women will, at the Glen hardcourt, vie for the 2019 Miss Independence crown.

In the running are Miss La Soufriere Shawntel Henry (sponsored by Lows Mini Mart), Miss Owia Salt Pond Britney Williams (sponsored by Macs Construction), Miss Black Point Calisa Jack (sponsored by National Properties), Miss Botanical Gardens Jahzhine Haynes (sponsored by Kennys Shipping Agency in Canada), Miss Fort Charlotte Zarifa Smith (Sponsored by Captain Lano’s Bar) and Miss Mopion Andrea Gonsalves (Sponsored by JTS Rental and Splitting Image Beauty Salon).

The show is the brainchild of former pageant contestant Naressa Ollivierre who created the show in an effort to showcase the beauty and intelligence of young women in her community.

The show is expected to begin at 8 p.m.

Patrons will hear remarks from East St George representative Camillo Gonsalves and Minister of Culture Cecil McKie among others.

Contestants will face the judges in five judged categories: ambassadorial speech, swimwear, talent, cultural wear and interview.

The judges are Winfield Tannis, Romano Richards, Juanita Phillips and Sean Frederick.

The event has the support of among others, D Fashion Spot, Digicel, STV Online, ICANDI, Invest SVG and Alhap Shipping Agency.
