Sehon Marshall appointed Prime Minister’s new Press Secretary

Sehon Marshall has been appointed Press Secretary to the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves confirmed the appointment yesterday, saying that Marshall’s contract was effective May 1.

The post became vacant on February 1, 2019 when former press secretary Hans King resigned to take up the position of General Manager (Acting) of National Properties Limited.

Marshall, 44, a former counsellor at the Permanent Mission of St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) to the United Nations was recalled to Kingstown in November 2017 after allegations of a domestic violence incident in New York.

Prior to being transferred to the UN Mission in August 2016, Marshall was Deputy Consul General at the New York Consulate of SVG from October 2014.

When SEARCHLIGHT reached out to Marshall yesterday, he declined to comment.

Marshall holds a master of laws degree in Climate Change Law and Policy, a master of arts degree in International Relations and Affairs and an associate’s degree in Information Technology.

He is also an experienced broadcaster and hosts the ‘Beyond the News’ program on weekdays on We FM 99.9.

Marshall is the third person to be appointed press secretary to Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves, the first being Glen Jackson, who was killed on March 6, 2006. Hans King held the post for 12 years.
