Wanted man caught, charged with rape and robbery

The man wanted on charges of rape and robbery, and was considered armed and dangerous, was caught last week, and charged yesterday.

Abdule ‘Why Why’ Garrick, 25 years, was apprehended by the police last Friday at around 6 p.m. while they were on patrol in Rockies. It is reported that ‘Why Why’ did not run from the police before he was caught.

Yesterday he was charged before the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court with three offences, namely, rape, robbing Dwayne Bacchus of Sion Hill on July 19 with a gun, and having in his possession 17g of cannabis on July 27.

Members of the media were not allowed to sit through this process, due to one of the offences being in the jurisdiction of the family court. Therefore, it is not known how Garrick pled to the charges.

The prisoner was not in low spirits when he was escorted to the court by police as he was jovially greeting persons outside.
