Leatherworker found dead in his house

Carl “Abu” Richards, a leatherworker from Stubbs, was found dead at his home on Sunday at around 1 p.m.

On Monday, a relative of the deceased said that on Sunday, a friend of Richards reported that he had not seen him since the weekend began and went to his home to check up on the dreadlocked man.

The relative said calls to Richards went unanswered and on entering the house, he was greeted by a foul odour, after which he found the popular shoemaker dead with his hands tied.

Richards, 60 years old, plied his trade under the canopy of the Kingstown Vegetable Market.

A post mortem is expected to be carried out to determine the cause of death.

Richards is the 38th person to die violently here this year.

Richards was the father of Edinboro resident Shereen Clouden, who was shot to death on December 3, 2008, while was she walking at Ottley Hall with a male companion.
