School bus, motorcycle collide in Georgetown

An electrician from Georgetown was seriously injured on Thursday morning, when his motorbike collided with a school bus.

At round 9 a.m., Osmore Francis, 31, was riding his motorcycle in the vicinity of the Georgetown Police Station, when he collided with a school bus, driven by McCauley Sutherland.

An eyewitness reported that the bus was turning off the main road into the gap leading to the Georgetown Secondary School (GSS), when the bike and its rider struck the bus’s left side, then crashed into the front of the police station building.

The bike fell on Francis, who was assisted by several persons and taken to the Georgetown Health Clinic and later transferred to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH), where up to press time he was still housed in a semi-conscious state.

The incident is said to have traumatized the bus driver, who remained in the bus after the accident.
