SVG’s Sunil Ambris slams double century

BASSETERRE, St Kitts, March 25, CMC — Sunil Ambris’ monumental double hundred ensured Windward Islands Volcanoes took full honours for the second straight day of their eighth round game in the regional four-day championship at Warner Park.

The 24-year-old right-hander, resuming from his overnight 155 not out, carved out a splendid career-best 231, as Volcanoes piled up a mammoth 540 in their first innings on day two here Saturday.

The Vincentian stroke-maker faced a mere 256 deliveries in 5-1/2 hours at the crease, and struck 27 fours and five sixes.

Ambris was eventually last out, caught by Jeremiah Louis off Rahkeem Cornwall, attempting yet another six.
