St Vincent Grammar School – champs again in table tennis
The St Vincent Grammar School has retained the secondary schoolsâ team title of the Schoolsâ Table Tennis Tournament.
And there was no better place to do so than at the schoolâs auditorium last Friday.
The schoolâs team #1, comprising Andre Mitchell, Saeed Bowman and Jaden Cunningham, defeated the trio from the Bequia Seventh-Day Adventist Secondary School 3 games to 1.{{more}}
Bowman beat Reon Ollivierre 11/7 11/6, while Cunningham saw off Jovian Derrick 11/7, 11/6 and Mitchell defeated Reon Ollivierre 11/2, 11/5.
Jenelson Compton beat Andreâ Mitchell 11/5, 12/14, 11/7, which was the lone win for his team.
Meanwhile, the St Josephâs Convent Kingstown defeated the JP Eustace Memorial Secondary 3 games to 1, to take the female team category.
En route to the title, Vedel Charles beat Karisssa Rogers 11/0, 11/6, while Terina Phillips bettered Deshonteâ Baptiste 11/0, 6/11, 11/7 and had an 11/3, 11/5, triumph over Rogers.
Dr JP Eustace Memorialâs single success was attained by Ariel Holder, who won by default, as the St Josephâs Convent Kingstown did not field a third player.
And, in the male primary category, the Paradise Primary of Bequia emerged as champions, dethroning the Belair Government 3 -0.
Paradiseâs wins were procured by Joevel Morgan, who beat Jelanzo Patterson 11/5, 11/2; Zane King overcame Jelani Cumberbatch 11/6, 11/2 and Jayden Friday beat Daymarlie Enville 11/5 10/12, 11/8.
The St Vincent and the Grenadines Table Tennis Association, in conjunction with the Ministry of Education, staged the tournament.(RT)
