Gunman robs Banfield Service Station

A lone gunman made off with an undisclosed sum of money on Monday night during a robbery at the Banfield Service Station at Grenville Street.

General manager of SOL St Vincent Limited Steve Francis told SEARCHLIGHT that around 8.45 p.m., an armed gunman went to the gas station, pointed a gun at one of the attendants and demanded money.

Francis said that the man was not wearing a mask. Three persons were on duty at the gas station at the time and no one was hurt during the incident.{{more}}

Persons claim that the robber had visited the petrol station a few hours before and asked a number of questions. He is said to have emerged from Paul’s Avenue (in the area of the National Lottery Building) and after the robbery, left using the same route.

Manager of the station Robert Banfield said that the robbery will not trouble the station’s closing time, but they will step up their security.

This is the second robbery at this service station in three years.(LC)
