Minibus overturns in Biabou, pinning passenger

Sergeant Annesley Roban, a police officer attached to the Police Public Relations Department, was injured on Wednesday when the minivan he was travelling in overturned in Biabou.

According to a police source, Roban, who was on his way to work, was travelling in the minibus ‘Skully’ HQ229, when the van, which was being driven by Dexter Horne of South Rivers, overturned on the main road between Cedars and Biabou.

The van, which was carrying about 15 passengers, was on its way to Kingstown when it overturned and reports are that the police officer was pinned under the vehicle. He was freed by a number of persons who lifted the van off him.{{more}}

Roban was rushed to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH), where he was treated for broken arms and later discharged.

The other passengers were unhurt.

It is unclear what caused the accident and police are investigating.
