NDP to take action if SOE does not respond – Eustace

While patience may be a virtue of Opposition Leader Arnhim Eustace, he is now fed up of the ‘attitude’ of the supervisor of elections (SOE) in relation to correspondence sent to her.

Eustace, speaking on the New Times programme on Nice Radio yesterday, said that a letter, which was sent to SOE Sylvia Findlay-Scrubb {{more}}on April 29, has not yet been responded to.

“I sent a letter to the supervisor indicating to her that we need a list for November to April of those persons who were transferred…within the various constituencies,” he said.

He noted that getting such a list is a common practice; however, they have only received the list of persons who left the constituency.

“I wrote since the 29th of April with regard to that matter. We have not the courtesy after six weeks of a reply…no acknowledgment and I find this unacceptable,” an irate Eustace said.

The president of the New Democratic Party (NDP) said that he wrote another letter to the SOE yesterday, requesting the same information.

“This is the last time I’ll be asking. The party will take other action if she does not respond….

“I find it contemptuous of her, that over a period of six weeks neither her or any of the persons working in her office were in a position to respond to a request for information which normally would come from that office,” he added.

Eustace added that it is because of such actions why he does not wish to have the SOE participate in any election they contest in the future.

“People get upset when they say that; when you look at this kind of behaviour here it is totally unacceptable. I am very, very disappointed and indeed angry that no attention is being given to this issue, which has been raised for over six weeks now.” (CM)
