Man shot dead at Twenty Hill

Police officers are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death on Tuesday night, of James ‘Sheppy’ Shappeard, a naturalized Vincentian, who was born in Trinidad.

A source within the constabulary told SEARCHLIGHT that officers responded to reports of several gunshots before hearing a loud {{more}}crashing sound around 10:45 p.m. at Twenty Hill near to Penniston.

When they arrived on the scene, police say they observed the lifeless body of the 44-year-old lying at the side of the road, on the left side of the car, with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his head. Motor vehicle PU419, a 2006 Toyota Corolla Luxel, was seen crashed into a wall at the scene.

According to the source, police believe that Shappeard’s death is as a result of robbery.

Police say a post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out on the body.

This incident has brought the total number of homicides for the year to 16.
