Fighting unsuccessfully to hold back tears, winner of the FLOW disc jockey competition, Alexander Christopher ‘Lil Kris’ John told reporters that he will use part of his EC$10,000 winnings to send his grandparents to the United States for health checks.

Lil Kris beat the odds and emerged {{more}}victorious on Saturday night during the FLOW DJ Competition, which was held during the launch of Vincy Mas 2016 at Carnival City, Victoria Park.

Kris, a one-man gang, fought from round one straight to the end of round four, where he defeated the duo of DJ Rhymer and DJ Maff/Elite Sounds in a soca sound-for-sound clash that was judged by the massive crowd at the venue.

After stepping off the stage, where he had collected his winnings from the FLOW team, Lil Kris at first appeared composed, but broke down in tears during the interview, probably realizing the magnitude of what he had achieved.

The DJ for over 10 years said, “I can’t even explain how I feel right now. I really can’t explain how I feel right now; I just happy that I get through to win”.

Lil Kris added, “it was a lot of hard work, a lot of preparation, a lot of praying. Big up to my grandparents, my father, the whole of Arnos Vale, Bum Bum specifically. They had my back from the beginning, from they hear I was in the competition; they were like ‘Chris we behind you’.”

The young DJ, who was probably the youngest in the competition, said that he was overwhelmed by what he had achieved.

“I going to buy tickets for my grandparents to go to Brooklyn, because they say that things are brown this year and they usually go up there to deal with their health care, so this is the perfect opportunity,” stressed Lil Kris.

The other competitors were Outa Road Jugglers (DJ Taffa and Sarda); Cash Flow (Fabulous and Badge); Sound Definition (DJ Q and Fugitive); and the duo of G and Not Nice.

The competition was hosted by DJ Pitbull of Hot 97.1 and introduced by FLOW to add even more entertainment to the launch of Vincy Mas.
