The list of sporting achievements pouched by St Vincent and the Grenadines was extended last Sunday in St Maarten, when the male youth volleyball outfit copped the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association tournament.

Playing unbeaten in the tournament, the Vincentian lads outdid the once seemingly invincible {{more}}St Lucia in the title match, winning the final 3-1.

Before reaching the final, St Vincent and the Grenadines easily disposed of Antigua and Barbuda in straight sets (25-17, 25-15 and 25-19) in their second match of Pool B.

On day one, St Vincent and the Grenadines however had to evade the St Maarten team, edging them out 3-2 (25-14, 25-22, 24-26, 24- 26 and 15-9).

St Lucia’s journey to the final saw them edging out Grenada in straight sets (25-21, 25-22, 25-23) in a close encounter.

This was followed up by another sweep of Anguilla: 25-17, 25-21, 25-17 and the downing of Dominica, thus setting up a contest with St Vincent and the Grenadines for the first place.

Moving on, some members of the Vincentian team have since headed out to Dominica for the Windward Islands Schools Games.
