Three more members of Johnson family laid to rest

It was an extremely tearful day last weekend for the family and friends of three Johnson family members who were laid to rest at the Spring Village cemetery on Sunday, after perishing in a car accident last month.

Hundreds turned out to the joint funeral service of 89-year-old George Johnson,{{more}} his daughter 65-year-old Isilma Venola Ollivierre-Johnson, and her son 22-year-old Denzil Johnson, who died on June 28, 2015.

The Johnsons had been on their way home to Spring Village, having attended the funeral of their relative Shardine Johnson — who had been brutally hacked to death by her ex-boyfriend on June 7, 2015.

The joint funeral service was led by Bishop Ashton of the Spiritual Baptist Church, at the Spring Village Primary School. During his address, Bishop Ashton reminded the funeral goers that life is fleeting, and death can visit anyone at any age, so it is important for each of us to live our lives according to God’s teachings.

“I want you to accept the message today… to set our houses [in order],” he implored. “ To make sure our soul is right with Almighty God. When we depart this life, we want to live after death.”

Tributes were given by grieving family members, family friends, and co-workers of the deceased family members.

Additionally, remarks were delivered by Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves, Opposition Leader Arnhim Eustace, MP for North Leeward Roland Patel Matthews, leader of the Democratic Republican Party Anesia Baptiste and ULP candidate for North Leeward in the upcoming elections Carlos James.

The tragic accident occurred in the Coulls Hill area when the driver of the vehicle Kemral Williams lost control of the vehicle. It plunged down a 70-foot incline before slamming onto the road below.

The driver and the other occupant in the vehicle, Neville Charles, survived the accident.
