The protracted National Table Tennis Championships finally came to an end last Saturday evening at the West St George Secondary School.
Junior winners who emerged were Saeed Bowman and Andre Mitchell. Bowman claimed the cadet category and with Andre Mitchell, secured the junior boys doubles. Mitchell took the junior {{more}}boysâ title.
The pair of Damion Dublin and Joseph Carrington won the doubles, and Sean Stanley trumped the masters, and Dublin, the menâs singles.
Bowman outlasted Rondre John in the cadet finals 5-11, 8-11, 11-7, 11-8, 11-7, and in the juniors doubles final, Bowman and Mitchell got the better of Chrislan Fraser and Rondre John, 11-4, 11- 7, 10-12, 11-7.
On his own, Mitchell stopped Fraser 11-6, 11-13, 11- 6, 11-7.
In taking the menâs doubles, Carrington and Dublin beat Sean Stanley and Bowman in straight sets 11-7, 11- 8, 11-4.
Stanley though, came good when he defeated Cox, 11-7, 11-8, 11-4 in the masters final.
And, Dublin registered a come from behind win over Deighton King, 5-11, 8-11, 11-7, 11- 8, 11-7.
In the semi-final, match-ups of the menâs singles, Dublin had side-stepped Kavir Gaymes 4-1(11-9, 13-11, 12-14, 11-4, 11-1), while King ousted Javier De Shong also 4-1(11-9, 13-11, 12-14, 11-4, 11-1).
In the Masters Division semis, Stanley bossed Carrington, 4-11, 11-4, 11-5, 11-9 and Junior Cox won by default over Robert Ballantyne.
The prize for the most improved player was copped by Chrislan Fraser.(RT)
