Kingsley âHeroâ Roberts, Aurella âKahailiaâ Beache and Orlando âSyxx Kraziâ Foster, all started Vincy Mas 2015 on high notes, after they were named winners of the New Song competition on May 2, at the Victoria Park.
Roberts, who is no stranger to the stage, beat out two other competitors in the calypso{{more}} competition on his way to the crown, with his song â3D Womenâ. The other two competitors, who were not given a place were Glenroy âSulleâ Caesar, with his song âAppreciate Carnivalâ and Cleo âCleopatraâ Hendrickson with âSexy Gone Crazy.â
Doing the double, Orlando Foster copped his second consecutive new soca song crown with his song entitled, âCelebrate Life.â The other competitors were Mustafa âTaphaâ Jackson, with âDishonourableâ and Aurella âKahailiaâ Beache with âD Street.â
Beach, however, reigned supreme in the ragga soca competition, with her song âDo Supmn.â Kevin âKevâ Alleyne, with his song âChangeâ and Roland âChico Bâ Veira, âUnder the bedâ were the other competitors.
This year, a new format was adopted for the competitions, as in previous years, five competitors took part in each category.
Noticably absent from Saturdayâs launch was the extempo competition, which over the years, has proven to be a favourite of persons who attend the show. (KW)
