Evesham woman wins EC$290,000 Super 6 jackpot

For many, when the 13th day of the month falls on a Friday, it is considered to be a day of bad luck. But, for one Evesham resident, it was quite the opposite when she scooped the top prize in the March 13 Super 6 draw!

Donna John, a mother of one, could hardly believe her luck when she realized that{{more}} the numbers she has played regularly over the years had won her EC$290,000.

“It’s a good feeling and I’m very happy about it!” said John, who was at a loss for words, at the handing over event that took place on Wednesday.

“Right about now, I have no plans [for the money],” she admitted.

John, who works as a machine operator at a local clothing production company, will receive the full amount, and was encouraged by National Lotteries Authority general manager McGregor Sealey to spend her winnings “wisely”.

“It’s not every day that you win $290,000,” he said. “Invest, if you have children or grandchildren.”

Sealey, who has been with the NLA for over 30 years, urged more members of the Vincentian public to play Super 6, as he believes that our country has not had enough jackpot winners since the game was introduced in December 2004.

He also boasted that the NLA is one of the best run national lotteries within the subregion, and thanked the public for its support over the years.

Friday, March 13’s winning numbers were 3, 6, 8, 13, 17 and 24; and the winning ticket was purchased from an agent located at the area known as ‘China Town’ in Kingstown.

SVG has had nine Super 6 winners to date. The last one was Icilma Sargeant, of Bequia, who won $235,000 on April 12, 2013.

The biggest ever Super 6 jackpot was approximately $1.2 million, and was won by one individual in Dominica – the smallest (in terms of population) of the Windward Island territories that take part in the game. (JSV)
