SVG Coastguard donates food baskets to residents of Calliaqua, surrounding areas

In a show of appreciation for their support, the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Coastguard Service recently presented residents of Calliaqua and surrounding areas with food baskets.

During the presentation, Lieutenant Commander Deon Henry said the Coastguard has been donating to the community since 1991,{{more}} thanks to an idea initiated by retired Station Sergeant Charles Adams.

To date, over 1,600 food baskets have been donated by the Coastguard to communities throughout St Vincent and the Grenadines.

“In every village there is a Coastguard officer. We need your support,” Henry said.

Leading Seaman Lisa Browne, coordinator of the food basket distribution, expressed thanks to John West, who has been contributing to the effort for the past 20 years.

Coastguard Commander Brenton Caine, as well as other staff members of the Coastguard, also joined in distributing the food baskets.
