Top local cricketers get returns for their performances

Cricketers and teams who excelled in competitions organised during 2014, under the aegis of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association (SVGCA), were last Saturday evening presented with their returns at the association’s annual awards ceremony, which took place at the Murray Heights hotel.{{more}}

The recompenses for the players were for the top performances in the National Lotteries Authorities Premier and First Divisions, the zonal Under-15, the Digicel Super-40 and the RBTT/RBC women’s 40-over competition.

Scoring the most runs in the Premier Division was Police Two’s Salvan Browne who tallied 261, while Dyke Cato of LIME Radcliffe was the leading wicket taker with 38 scalps. Keron Cottoy of Victors One, was the best all rounder as he scored 243 runs and snapped 21 wickets.

Leon Samuel of Ruddy’s Electrical – 289 runs was the top run getter in the First Division ; Javon Samuel of ishallaz Physical Therapy – the most wickets- 43 and best all rounder- Marlon Farrell of Combined Youths.

Dilorn Douglas scored the most runs in the Under-15 and Urnil Thomas, took the most wickets.

Among the women- Samantha Lynch of United Survivors registered the most runs- 317, had the highest individual score-75 and also collected 16 wickets, to pouch the best all rounder award, in the RBTT sponsored competition.

LaToya Providence of JG Tigress, took the most wickets.

Among those scoring centuries in the Premier Division were Gidron Pope of Spartans – 120 versus Victors One; Andrew Thomas of LIME Radcliffe – 116 against Police One and Team Rivals’ Marvin Small who lashed 115 not out against Police One.

The other centurions were Elron Lewis and Salvan Browne of Police Two who scored 108 and 103 respectively versus Police One.

Team Rivals took the Premier Division, iShallz Physical Therapy – the first division and United Survivors – the women’s title.

Casmond Walters – Team Rivals; Ray Charles – Saints, Norlon Williams- Victors One, Kenneth Dember- Victors One, Dyke Cato- Radcliffe, who did so on two occasions and Andre Hunte- ASCO, were the bowlers who grabbed ten wickets or more in a match.

Saints’ Kenroy Peters had the best bowling figures, 7 for 14 against ASCO.

The century makers in the First Division were Leshawn Lewis of Ishallz Physical Therapy – 150 not out, Leon Samuel- 145 not out; Dilworth Thomas and Kishore Shallow of Victors Two- 130 and 102, respectively.

Team Rivals also took away the Premier Division and Digicel Super-40 competitions, while iShallz Physical Therapy won the first division and United Survivors- the women’s competition. Central Windward won the zonal Under-15 division. (RT)
