Park Hill farmer dies from gunshot to head

A grieving wife is pleading with persons who have information about the death of her husband to come forward.

Park Hill resident Charles Ryan was shot dead last weekend, while he was making his way home.{{more}}

According to a police report, the 64-year-old man sustained a single gunshot wound to his head at about 12:50 a.m. on Saturday.

When SEARCHLIGHT visited the area on Tuesday, residents declined to give any comment concerning the death of the farmer.

“I would like to appeal to the public or anybody at all who knows anything about his death; if you can, please come forth and speak out,” Janice Ryan, wife of the deceased, said.

The mother of five told SEARCHLIGHT that she last saw her husband alive at around 9 p.m. on Friday.

She explained that the farmer was coming from an area further in the community, when he was shot not too far away from his home.

Adding that she is really hurt by the death of Ryan, Janice stated that she hopes that justice will be served.

“I don’t think that he deserved a death like that because he is a very kind man, very friendly and very hardworking. He’s not a person who likes getting in confusion with anyone,” Janice said.

“I would like the police to get them; whoever it is, I don’t know. I don’t know the reason why they had to do this to my husband.”

A post mortem is expected to be carried out on the body. (BK)
