Six local beauties and three from the region will face off in an attempt to wear the crown last won by Shannette Culzac in 2010, at the Murray Heights Hotel in McKies Hill tonight, beginning at 8.

Show organizer Merlon Yearwood told SEARCHLIGHT that the pageant is expected to begin on time, and there is much in store for the supporters of the event.

“The girls are going to do an independence themed introduction, and they will also be making appearances in bike wear, swim wear, and cocktail dress. They will also be performing a talent and have an interview section.

“I am stressing cocktail dress and not evening gown, because this is a laid back show and I don’t want patrons to come expecting a Miss SVG kind of dress,” Yearwood emphasized.

She also disclosed that the event will be hosted by Javelle “The Diva” Franklyn, with special appearances by Avenues dancers, Shevrell “Candy Man” McMillan, and Shernell “Skarpyon” Williams.

Yearwood said that with the scores of bikers who will be in St Vincent for the weekend of biking activities, as well as the persons who have supported the pageant over the years, she expects a great turnout.

“We have foreign girls competing for the first time, so I am urging the people to come out and support the local and regional girls.

The contestants this year are Shanna White representing Barbados, Marissa Charles of St Lucia, and Rhea Chance of Grenada, while the local contestants are Tafria Williams, Miss Sip and Chat, Janella Osment, Miss Karibbean Tire, Oslene Nichols, Miss Hot Spot, Rodica John, Miss King’s Auto, Antoria Cumberbatch, Miss Brian’s Garage, and Fayasha Lewis, Miss Vincy AKA Punky’s Bar and Grill.

The Biker Babes pageant is part of the Biker Extravaganza taking place over the independence weekend, and includes a stunt show at the Arnos Vale Sports Complex tomorrow, an island ride on Sunday, and the motorcross and FMX show at Pembroke on Monday.(JJ)
