Five Cultural and Sporting Ambassadors named

Five outstanding Vincentians have been awarded the privilege of carrying diplomatic passports and wearing the title of cultural or sporting ambassador.{{more}}

Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves announced yesterday, during a sitting of Parliament, that diplomatic passports will be issued to Gamal “Skinny Fabulous” Doyle, Delroy “Fireman” Hooper, Kenneth “Vibrating Scakes” Alleyne, Kevin Lyttle and Juliana Nero, who are all considered cultural or sporting ambassadors of St Vincent and the Grenadines.

“Yesterday (Wednesday), the Cabinet of St Vincent and the Grenadines decided on the names of five persons to be cultural and sporting ambassadors and have the privilege of carrying diplomatic passports,” Gonsalves said.

The prime minister noted that the matter had been under discussion and that the necessary checks were made to ensure that the Cabinet had made the correct decisions.

Doyle, who is the reigning Soca Monarch and Road March champion, Hooper, a seven-time Soca Monarch, Alleyne, a former calypso monarch and Lyttle, an international soca star, will be accorded by the Government, the formal title of cultural ambassador.

Nero, who is the only Vincentian on the West Indies women’s cricket team, will be accorded the title of sporting ambassador.(BK)
