In addition to being charged with murder, Lewis was charged for being in possession of 9mm Lama pistol without a license, under the firearm act. He was also charged with having 14 rounds of 9mm ammunition on September 6.

Persons gathered outside the court to get a see the accused, who had tears streaming down both cheeks as he exited the police vehicle.

Robinson, 24, was killed around 8 p.m. on September 2 after receiving a single gunshot to the left side of his head, which destroyed his brain, and lodged in his right cheek.

He was killed less than an hour after being released from police custody, after a robbery report two days earlier.

Prosecutor Glenford Gregg informed Senior Magistrate Donald Browne that the firearm allegedly used in the incident has to be sent abroad for analysis.

Gregg said he was informing the court before the matter reaches adjournment stages.

The matter has been transferred to the Serious Offences Court for September 19.

Lewis currently does not have legal representation.
