The educators, mainly head teachers and principals, received their Master of Arts

in Education (one received a Post Graduate Diploma in Education), at their graduation ceremony, which took place at the Faith Temple church in New Montrose, Kingstown, with family, faculty and well wishers present as they received their certificates.

The certification follows three years of study through access to the extensive electronic library of the Bristol, England based institution, as well as face to face interaction, conducted by local and overseas lecturers.

Last Thursday’s ceremony saw and heard addresses by Deputy Head of the Department of Education of the University Dr. John Ryan, as well as local Education Minister Girlyn Miguel, who congratulated the educators for their dedication to the programme, and called on them to put their training in use as they proceed to their various educational institutions.

Morine Williams, who responded on behalf of the graduates, thanked the UWE and the local education officials for the opportunity to be a part of the programme.

Williams, who disclosed that she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010, and underwent chemotherapy, radiation, and the loss of her mother during her studies, said that her strong belief in God enabled her to complete the course, for which she was awarded her degree with merit. (JJ)
