Blondie Bird Juniors win Band of the Year

Portraying the elements of Nature with their presentation “Nature’s Fury”, Guinness/ Y De Lima/ Hitz Fm 103.7 Blondie Bird and Friends was awarded the Junior Band of the Year at Junior Carnival 2011.{{more}}

The SVG Players International production “At the Movies” gained second place, while KFC Heineken Dragons in Association with Hot 97, CK Greaves, Cash Money Investments and the News placed third with their production “Journey through the silk road.”

The young masqueraders decorated Carnival City Victoria Park on June 26, 2011 with a rainbow of colors as they proudly displayed their costumes by their respective bands.

Proving to be the judges’ favourite, the Guinness/ Y De Lima/ Hitz Fm 103.7 Blondie Bird and Friends also secured top positions in several other categories. The band placed 1st in the Junior King of Carnival category with “Tsunami” portrayed by Jelani Niles. The band also placed first for Best Junior Section with “Sunspot” and placed second in the Individual 5-9 and 10-15 with “Tsunami” and “Tornado” respectively.

SVG players International also received the Junior Queen of Carnival title with their production “Alice in Wonderland” portrayed by Renisha Rose. The band also placed 3rd in the Individual 5-9 category with “Sound of Music” and 1st in the Individual 10-15 category with “Cleopatra” portrayed by Gabrielle Bailey.

KFC- Heineken Dragons in association with Hot 97, CK Greaves, Cash Money Investments and the News also placed third in the Junior Queen of Carnival category with “Journey through the shifting sand” portrayed by Kalia Phillips. Mirage Production placed second with “Ice Queen” portrayed by Na’ Lexus Browne.

The best band in the uptown competition was the Digicel/ Hitz Fm 103.7 Nelson Bloc Mas Camp with their production “From our Caribbean Garden,” following behind was SVG Players International “At the movies” in second place while KFC Heineken Dragons in association with Hot 97, CK Greaves, Cash Money Investments and the News with “Journey through the Silk Road.”

Mirage productions “White Darnkess” took the forth position, while Guinness/ Y De Lima/ Hitz Fm 103.7 Blondie Bird and Friends rounded out the top five with “Nature’s Fury.”
