Government bars outgoing calls from some departments

The barring of outgoing telephone calls from some Government Departments, especially the Royal St.Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force, is being viewed by some as an indicator that the Government is broke.{{more}}

This is not so, says Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, who is also this country’s Minister of Finance.

Speaking to SEARCHLIGHT exclusively on Tuesday, Gonsalves said with regard to the police, he believes they have made all the necessary arrangements to enable them to make telephone calls.

“You have to put some control on absuses. That’s just the simple reality. That has nothing to do with the question of money,” said Gonsalves.

Claims that public servants from several government departments are unable to make telephone calls have been circulating during the past few weeks.
