Vincentian collared in Trinidad drug bust
Trinidad and Tobago police have detained two persons, including a 21 year-old national of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, in connection with a multi-million dollar drugs and ammunition bust in the north-east of the country.{{more}}
Dwayne Samuel and Kervin Elder were arrested last week Thursday at Matelot Bay in Trinidad and Tobago after Police, acting on a tip off, went to a forested area of Matelot and discovered 689 kilos of marijuana and explosives. They said the drugs had a street value of over TT$7 million (US$1.01 million).
Samuel, 21, of Stubbs, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, along with the 48-year-old Trinidadian, Elder, of LâAnse Noir, Toco, appeared before Magistrate Gillian David in the Sangre Grande First Magistrateâs Court, charged with the possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a hand grenade.
Samuel, dressed in grey jersey and jeans, looked down as the charges were read to him, while Elder, dressed in stripped long T-shirt and black jeans, looked all around the court as the charges were being laid.
