Magistrate Donald Browne remanded Peter, 24, and Andrew, 22, to Her Majesty’s Prison on Tuesday, September 1, 2009.

The labourers were not required to plea when the indictable charge that they had caused the death of Cyrus by “malice of forethought” was read to them, and they were not granted bail.

Attorney Nicole Sylvester is representing the Hazelwood brothers.

Cyrus, 25, died on the spot on August 28 after being attacked around 5:30 p.m. at Ras I’s Food Shop in the Leeward Bus Terminal.

Relatives claimed he was struck in the head with a hammer, stabbed in the chest and left arm, and slashed across the abdomen.

“His girlfriend was downstairs and she said ‘All you hear yah, somebody call and say dem kill Crampy ah town’,” said Claudia Hazelwood, the woman who raised Cyrus at her Texier Road home, along with her own children.

Hazelwood told SEARCHLIGHT on the fateful day Cyrus had made a report to the Layou Police Station about threats to his life, adding he had predicted his death recently.

“He tell one of his cousins ‘Me nah think me might live to see Christmas’.”

She broke down in tears as she reminisced on the good times with Cyrus.

“If I tell how I feel you won’t believe. I feel just as though I don’t have any feelings in my body. I feel weak,” Hazelwood said.

On December 11, 2006, the Leeward Bus Terminal was the scene of another gruesome murder, when 21-year-old Stacy Wilson of Vermont, was beheaded.

Shorn Samuel who goes by the moniker ‘Muslim Islamaam’ and ‘Abdul Rahim’ was found guilty earlier this year of Wilson’s murder.
