Police charge nine for sex with minor
The atmosphere outside the Kingstown Magistrates Court erupted with boisterous chatter on Tuesday, April 14, as nine Barrouallie men between the ages of 26 and 64 were hauled before the court on charges of having sex with a girl under the age of 13.{{more}}
The nine: Lucas Barber, 64, watchman; Sigbert Williams, 49, Fisherman; Prince Neverson, 42, Fisherman; Samuel Caesar, 55, Self-employed; Gary Richards, 35, mini-bus Conductor; Ricardo John, 35, mini-bus conductor; Godfrey French, 35, labourer; Envis Turkin, 28, farmer, and Junior Gloster, 26, fisherman, were not allowed to plea to the indictable charge, and were all remanded to Her Majestyâs Prison by Senior Magistrate Donald Browne until today, Friday, for bail review.
It is alleged that between January 1, 2008. and March 4, 2009, the men engaged in sexual activities with the young girl.
Relatives of the accused men stationed outside the courtroom could not hold back their emotions as some were seen crying and shouting to the top of their lungs as the men were whisked away in the back of a police jeep. â…The DNA go prove dem na do it.
