Nine beauties to contest Miss SVG 2008
Nine young women are halfway through an intense 12-week training programme in preparation for the Miss SVG Pageant 2008, which is scheduled for Saturday, 31st May, 2008, at Victoria Park.{{more}}
The nine, Emmelin John, Jolene Toney, Karen Whiskey, La Toya Lewis, Nekesha Adams, Ronique Dellimore, Shanel Green, Shanel Nanton and Tamisha Nichols, were chosen by a panel made up of the Minister of Culture Rene Baptiste and members of the Board of Directors of the Carnival Development Corporation (CDC), to take part in Miss SVG 2008.
Training for this show encompasses stage performance, physical fitness, interview skills, media & public appearance, personal development and grooming.
This year the contestants have the added advantage of being able to receive the benefit of the experience of past queens. Michelle Fife, Laferne Fraser and Melissa Yorke, all university graduates, are in state and are actively involved in the training process for this yearâs competition.
The nine contestants will have their first official introduction to the public at the launch of Vincy Mas 2008 on Saturday, 3rd May.(JSV)
