With the year 2007 still in its early days, yet another youth has fallen victim to the gun.

The latest victim is Kenford “Killa Loop” Samuel, a 23-year-old labourer of Rillan Hill who was shot in “drive-by” style on Saturday, January 27 at Rillan Hill.{{more}}

Police reports state that about 12.15 p.m. Kenford was sitting on a wall along the public road with some other men when a white car traveling from the Leeward end pulled up and sprayed the block with gunfire, resulting in Samuel being shot in his chest. He was pronounced dead on the spot. Police are still carrying out investigations into the matter.

On July 26, 2005 Samuel along with four other men, all from Rillan Hill were found not guilty at the High Court for the August 6, 2003 murder of Cameron “Kalange” Arrindell of Penniston, formerly of Park Hill.

Arrindell’s body was discovered in a pool of blood on the Penniston public road in the wee hours of the morning with a gunshot wound to his chest.

All the men were found not guilty on the grounds that the presiding judge found that the investigating officer’s method of using a statement from one accused to extract information from another was highly irregular. He also found the caution statements to be inadmissable.
