Comedy King Saluche found dead
Lucien “Saluche” Small is no more. The stand up comedian and late night radio host was found dead at his home at Dorsetshire Hill early Sunday morning. He was found by his younger brothers Lloyd and Julian lying on the floor of the living room.
Although small in name and stature, the Cariibbean King of Comedy was known as a person who gave people across the region big laughs with his side-splitting humour. Small, who was known for his MC skills and hard hitting jokes performed at the famous Apollo Theatre, numerous Caribbean Comedy Festivals and was the headliner at shows in Britain, the US and the Caribbean.
A former Warehouse Manager with Cable and Wireless, Small’s stage name and persona evolved from his given name “Lucien”. When he went to school, his peers at school called him Sir Lucien. Always a man with his own style, Small then changed his name to Sir Luce but as he grew older, he eventually changed his alias to “Sir Luche,” then “Saluche”.
Saluche is survived by his wife Helen and his two adult daughters from a previous marriage Sharese and Lucia; his mother, other relatives and friends. He was 58 years old at the time of his death. A post mortem is expected to be perfomed today.
