A local senator’s son is facing drug charges in New York.

Chechano Leacock, son of Opposition Senator, St Claire Leacock, was held over the weekend of Friday, December 1, at the John F Kennedy Airport and charged with importing illegal drugs and conspiracy to distribute.

“I got a call from the Department of Homeland Security last Monday informing me of his arrest,” said Cozier.

Senator Leacock, who was missing at Wednesday’s Parliamentary sitting, left for New York on Tuesday to go to his son’s assistance.

At press time Consul General Cozier was working feverishly to speed up the process of visitation rights for Senator Leacock.

“I am trying to cut through all the red tape for him,” Cozier said.
