CHILDREN MAKING MOVIES AT SCHOOLS WITH PHONES

Cellphones, while no longer a novelty in St Vincent and the Grenadines are being used for some novel purposes in our schools.

Students are using the latest hi-tech phones to produce and distribute pornography but the Ministry of Education said that the days of this activity are numbered.{{more}}

SEARCHLIGHT has learnt that some students are using built-in cameras in their phones to capture mini-videos of sexual acts on the school compound. They are then burning DVDs with their homespun porno series and selling for as little as $20.

Others are using cell phones with Internet capability to download pornography from the world wide web and distribute to friends via infrared and bluetooth wireless connection, vai USB ports and email.

“If such a situation occurs we would not accept it but will call on the stakeholders in education to deal with it,” Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education Laura Brown told SEARCHLIGHT. “We are presently working on a policy to regulate cell phones in schools, we are just waiting on the legal review of the proposed policy”.

This week parents and other adults flooded the airwaves with complaints about the unbridled access by students to pornography using the technologically advanced cell phones and called for action to nip it in the bud.

Parents who are unaware of this phenomenon are still willing to shell-out the bucks to purchase these sophisticated and expensive phones. Some of the phones come from relatives overseas.

In other developments involving students but not on the school’s premises, SEARCHLIGHT has discovered that young people are using webcams and making movies of themselves having sex. Some were emulating bizarre and unnatural sex acts portrayed on commercial x-rated movies.

SEARCHLIGHT understands that the movies were shot as a “fun thing” between the young couple but once they broke up, the movies started making their rounds on the Internet.
